Maruti Celerio automatic will not be expensive compared to manual

The first car to feature an Automated Manual Transmission – AMT in India, Celerio will be launched on 6th February. Maruti official now reveals that apart from this, it’s price will not be significantly expensive, as compared to manual option.

Maruti Celerio hatchback replaces the A-Star hatchback in India. Powered by the same engine, 1.0l K10, the Celerio will deliver a much better mileage of 23.1 kmpl, thanks to their new clutchless manual transmission, which they have named EZ Drive.

Speaking to ET, Maruti Suzuki official confirmed that the price of Celerio EZ Drive will not be significantly higher than it’s manual transmission counterpart. A total of 6 trims of Celerio will be on offer, 4 with manual transmission option, while two with AMT EZ Drive clutchless transmission.

The demand for automatic hatchback’s in India is there, but due to their high price and less fuel efficiency, buyers opt for manual transmission options instead. Usually, the price difference between a manual and it’s automatic variant, is about Rs 1 lakh, but that will not be the case with Maruti Celerio.

Celerio Automatic will not be priced significantly higher than that of its manual transmission. Apart from this, it will deliver a mileage, which is better than manual transmission. It will be offered in a choice of new exciting 7 colors along with bluetooth connectivity and stylish alloys. Maruti is about to change the game in the small hatchback segment, again.
