Out of 20,000 Celerio hatchbacks delivered/booked to date, it has been found that the more expensive automatic variant is more in demand signaling a change in sentiments with added buyers eager to take advantage of effortless drive and faster acceleration, reveals ET.
Celerio hatchback made its presence felt at 2014 Auto Expo and recent interim budget ensured that the automatic variant comes in at a starting price of INR 4.14 lakhs while its manual variant is priced at INR 3.76 lakhs onwards. This being the company’s first car with automatic manual transmission (AMT) and also the first in the country, has got buyers eager to possess a car with this improved technology.
Out of five trims offered on the Celerio, two are AMT while three are manual. AMT is known to remove stress of having to contend with clutch in a stop/go traffic situation especially prevalent in the country, while it is also a fuel saver as compared to its manual counterpart.
Maruti Suzuki Celerio is receiving over 1000 bookings per day. However, this attractive pricing and AMT facility has led to in constraints with demand for automatic Celerio way above supply capabilities. Maruti has hence instructed vendors to push the Celerio manual transmission variants more than AMT trims.
