Maruti Celerio Cross looks unbelievably sporty in new render

Maruti Celerio Cross

Render looks very much like the real thing.

Hatchbacks converted into crossover look-alikes are gaining momentum in Indian auto industry. Volkswagen brought in their Cross Polo, Toyota launched the Etios Cross, Fiat launched Avventura, and the latest kid on the block is Hyundai’s i20 Active. In all this, somehow Maruti seems to have gotten left behind, but not anymore.

From the Celerio which we on our streets these days, to this! Folks at GaadiWaadi claim that this is a render, but considering the level of detailing, it might just be the real thing.

Maruti Suzuki India is continuously wary of the fact that their rivals are catching up faster than ever. In order to continue with their lead in India, they will have to offer more and more products. And considering the new-found love for hatchback converted into crossovers, Maruti Suzuki seems to be ready with their new product.

Maruti Celerio Cross shares a great deal of its exterior and on board technology with the Celerio hatchback which was launched in India in February 2014. Celerio Cross sees increased dimensions (due to plastic cladding) with added ground clearance of 10-15mm while suspension setup will also be tweaked.

Rendered with a 4 slat chrome grille and projector headlamps in the front, the Celerio Cross could receive the same K10B, 998cc, 3 cylinder petrol engine offering 68 PS power and 90 NM torque mated to a 5 speed gearbox. GaadiWaadi also suggests that the Celerio Cross could be powered by a 3 cylinder K10C Dualjet petrol engine offering higher compression ratio, twin fuel injector and that which is guaranteed for higher level of fuel -efficiency idling stop technology expected to deliver 27.7 kmpl.
