Exteriors of Maruti Ciaz bear chrome front grille, dual headlamps with projector unit on one, front fog lamps, turn indicator embedded ORVM and tail lamps with similar outer contour to Honda City’s. Boot lid designed with lip spoiler is reminiscent of Kizashi’s. Maruti Suzuki showcased Ciaz concept at 2014 Delhi Auto Expo with twin exhaust pipes, but production version seems to carry only one.
Wheelbase of Maruti Ciaz sedan is claimed to be 4545mm, result of which would be appreciable legroom for rear passengers, making Ciaz suitable for chauffeured ride. This could pit Ciaz against Nissan Sunny.
Colour choices for Maruti Ciaz to include pearl metallic arctic white, midnight black, silky Silver, glistening grey, clear beige, chocolate brown and fire brick red.
Variants of Maruti Ciaz to include VXi, VXi+ and ZXi with petrol engine and VDi, VDi+ and ZDi with diesel engine. Gaadiwaadi reports that over 600 units of diesel powered Ciaz sedans are already produced and stocked, consisting chiefly of VDi and VDi+ variants.
Inspiration for interiors of Maruti Ciaz seems to be drawn from Suzuki Kizashi’s, mainly dual tone (black & beige) panels with wood finish trim on dashboard. Rest of features of Maruti Ciaz include In-Car Entertainment (ICE) system with 6 speakers as Standard, driver arm rest, electric adjustable door wing mirrors, dead pedal, front & rear power windows, remote central locking, rear defogger, speed sensing door auto-lock, tilt steering wheel and rear AC vents.
While above features would be available in entry level VXi / VDi variants, following will be offered in mid level VXi+ / VDi+ trims; steering mounted audio controls, reverse parking sensors, Antilock Braking System (ABS), height adjustable driver seat and front fog lamps.
Top end ZXi / ZDi variants of Maruti Ciaz are said to include 16 inch alloy wheels, automatic climatic control, dual airbags, push start/stop button, 5 inch TFT Dispaly for ICE system with optical parking assist, auto dimming rear view mirror and premium fabric seats.
Powertrain in Maruti Ciaz sedan will be similar to that of Maruti Ertiga. 1.4 litre K14B petrol engine producing 95 PS and 130 Nm, and 1.3 litre DDIS diesel motor producing 90 PS and 200 Nm. Expected mileage of Maruti Ciaz is 22.4 kmpl in diesel variant and 18.2 kmpl in petrol variant.
