As the slowdown continues in the auto sector, most carmakers have reported a steep fall in sales in August 2019. India’s largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki has reported -32.73% loss in sales, down from 158,189 units in August 2018 to 106,413 units in August 2019.
To combat weakening sales, Maruti Suzuki has launched attractive discounts and benefits on a range of products including the premium Nexa range. These schemes will also help the company to clear its inventory of BS-IV models that will become obsolete after April 01, 2020.
Maruti Ignis: The smallest and most affordable Nexa car, Ignis recently achieved the sales milestone of 1 lakh units. Launched in February 2017, Ignis has registered average sales of around 3,850 units per month. Ignis is being offered with a cash discount of Rs 30k and exchange benefits worth Rs 20k.
Maruti Baleno: Once a bestseller, Baleno sales have been declining in recent months. Baleno BS-VI petrol is being offered with a cash discount of Rs 15k and exchange benefits worth Rs 15k. As for Baleno diesel variant (BS-IV), customers can get it with Rs 20k cash discount, exchange benefits worth Rs 15k and warranty of 5 years. Baleno was the first Maruti car to get BS-VI compliant petrol engine, but it’s not certain if BS-VI option will be provided for diesel variant.
Maruti Ciaz: This has consistently ranked among the bestselling sedans in the country. In July, Ciaz was at number one position, ahead of Honda City and Hyundai Verna. Ciaz petrol variant is currently available with cash discount of Rs 25k and exchange benefits worth Rs 30k. These offers are also available with Ciaz DDiS 225 diesel variant. Customers get additional 5 years warranty on Ciaz DDiS 225 diesel.
S-Cross: This is among the Maruti cars that have been hit hard by the slowdown in auto sector. In July, S-cross sales dipped -87.68%, down from 5,308 units in July 2018 to just 654 units in July 2019. S-Cross is being offered with attractive cash discount of Rs 50k, exchanged benefits worth Rs 30k and 5 years warranty.
