Maruti Dzire, Brezza, Swift, Baleno generate over Rs 40,000 crore revenue in 2018

India is one of the largest producer of vehicles in the world. Among the leading car makers are Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Mahindra, Tata, Honda, and Toyota. Based on the report by Auto Punditz, here are the top 20 revenue generating cars of India. (Note, all revenue figures are estimates, and not exact).

Maruti Suzuki India Limited topped the list of 20 of the highest revenue generating cars in the past year. It had 8 of its cars on this list comprising of the DZire, Vitara Brezza, Baleno, Swift, Alto, WagonR, Celerio and Ciaz. In a top spot both where revenue and volume ranking was concerned, was the Maruti Suzuki DZire sedan, with total revenue generated to the tune of Rs.13,870 crores (estimated).

New Baleno launched earlier this year.

Maruti Brezza, in the crossover SUV segment, came in second in terms of revenue, generating estimated Rs.10,491 crores. It was at No. 5 in terms of volume ranking. Baleno and Swift were also top revenue generators with Rs.9,959 crores and Rs. 9,649 crores respectively. Maruti Alto was in at No. 8 with Rs.5,965 crores revenue, WagonR with Rs.4,725 crores revenue was on the 6th spot. At No. 15 was the Celerio hatchback with Rs.3,138 crores revenue and on 20th spot in ranking, was Ciaz sedan with revenue generation at Rs.2,600 crores.

Hyundai Creta, i20 and i10 Grand featured on this list. Creta took the 5th spot, as it amassed revenue to the tune of Rs.8,861 crores. At No. 7 was the i20 hatchback with revenue of Rs.6,838 crores. Grand i10 hatchback generated revenue of Rs.5,095 crores and took the 9th spot.

At Nos. 11 and 13 were Mahindra Bolero and Scorpio, generating revenue of Rs.3,659 crores and Rs.3,434 crores respectively. EcoSport was the only car from Ford, featuring at No. 12 with revenue of Rs.3,489 crores. Toyota Innova and Fortuner took Nos. 6 and 14, generated revenue of Rs.7,543 crores and Rs.3,347 crores respectively.

Tata Motors had the Tiago hatchback and Nexon crossover on this list. Tiago was at No. 16 with revenue generation of Rs.3,119 crores while Nexon was at No. 18 with revenue generated at Rs.2,692 crores. Honda Amaze and City featured on this list at Nos. 17 and 19; generated revenue of Rs.3,062 crores and Rs.2,633 crores respectively. Total estimated revenue generated by the 20 cars in the list is over Rs 1.14 lakh crores.
