Maruti Suzuki will soon launch the new 2019 Ertiga 6 seater MPV in India. Already spied on test in India, this will be a more luxurious version of Ertiga which is currently on sale in India. It will be sold via NEXA chain of premium sales and service outlets in the country and will go on sale from later this year. Ahead of launch, Ertiga 6 seater concept was showcased at the Indonesia Motor Show today.
Maruti Ertiga 6 seater taps a segment of budget oriented 7 seater cars in the country. It being a more premium variant of the Ertiga, it will see a lot of design changes on the outside as well as on the inside.
Based on the company’s Heartect platform, the Ertiga 6 seater gets similar structure as the regular Ertiga but gets new bumper in the front, flared wheel arches, a larger air dam, big fog lamp housings, a larger more imposing grille and new projector headlamps with LED DRLs.
Though official dimensions numbers are not available, from the photos it seems that the Ertiga 6 seater concept sits lower than the regular Ertiga, as it has a lower ground clearance. This could change once the car enters production. Alloys are new, and are fitted with larger, low profile tyres.
Interiors of the new Maruti Ertiga 6 seater is finished beige. Front seats are similar to the one’s we have seen in current Ertiga. Second row seats have foldable middle portion (convertible arm rest), which is probably a 40-20-40 split. This means that the 6 seater Ertiga can also be used as a 7 seater. 3rd row seats are same as current Ertiga.
Expect the new Maruti Ertiga 6 seater to be powered by a BS6 compliant version of the K15B petrol engine that powers the regular Ertiga. This engine offers 105 PS power and 138 Nm torque. The company also replaced the 1.3 liter diesel engine on the Ertiga with a new in-house developed 1.5 liter DDiS 225 engine offering 95 PS power and 225 Nm torque. However, with new BS VI emission norms coming into effect, the diesel engine is expected to be completely done away with and the Ertiga 6 seater will be powered exclusively by the 1.5 liter K15 petrol engine.
Slotted above the regular Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, the Ertiga 6 seater will also be more expensive than the standard version. When launched, the 2019 Maruti Suzuki Ertiga 6 seater MPV will compete with the more premium Mahindra Marazzo.
