Maruti Ertiga XL6, a 6 seater crossover, is getting ready for launch in India. It will be sold via the company’s NEXA premium showrooms, and will be a more expensive car than the current Ertiga. It gets captain seats in the second row, while third row will be similar to current Ertiga.
The XL nameplate has been used by Suzuki Motors earlier as well. It was also previously used on the long wheelbase version of the Grand Vitara which had an additional 18” length over the standard Grand Vitara. It is not clear if the Ertiga XL6 will be longer than the current Ertiga or not.
Spy shots reveal that the Maruti Ertiga 6 seater gets distinctive black body cladding on its sides and sits on 15” alloys finished in a black colour scheme. As compared to the regular Ertiga, the XL6 sports a larger front grille, bigger headlamp encasing and bumpers. It also gets increased road clearance and rear bumper with a new faux skid plate.
Interiors follow an all black colour scheme and in a 6 seater layout. It gets separate captain chairs for the second row. It will sport new seat upholstery and XL6 branding. Infotainment via a Smart Play System will be same as existing Ertiga. It will be compatible with Apple Carplay as well as Android Auto. It will also get other driver and passenger premium features to set it apart from its standard 7 seater Ertiga.
Engine specifications of the new Maruti Ertiga XL6 will be same as current Ertiga. It will be powered by a 1.5 liter K15B, SHVS, 4 cylinder petrol engine, which is the first BS VI compliant powertrain from Maruti Suzuki. This engine makes 104.7 PS power and 138 Nm torque mated to a 5 speed manual or a 4 speed automatic transmission. Maruti Suzuki is currently undecided where its diesel engine lineup is concerned and hence XL6 may not get diesel engine option.
No indications on pricing have been revealed as on date, but considering that this is going to be a premium MPV which will be retailed via NEXA, Maruti Ertiga 6 seater price expected to be around Rs.12 lakhs.
