Maruti Ertiga New vs Old Ertiga Prices – Increased by up to Rs 1.1 lakhs

At a gala event in Delhi this afternoon, Maruti Suzuki launched the second generation Ertiga MPV. This also marks the end of first generation Ertiga MPV, which had made its debut. Interestingly, prices of Ertiga petrol have been hiked by as much as Rs 1.1 lakhs, while that of the Ertiga diesel have been hiked by as much as Rs 44k.

Some Maruti Arena dealers still have the stick of old Ertiga, which they are selling at discounts of up to Rs 1 lakhs. So if you are in the market to get a family MPV, you can get a good deal on the old Ertiga.

Hike in petrol Ertiga is higher because it not only gets SHVS mild hybrid, but also gets a completely new engine. Diesel Ertiga on the other hand, gets the same old engine and SHVS system. But the SHVS system has been updated to dual battery setup. Both variants get added features list which include projector headlamps, touchscreen infotainment system, more space for second and third row passengers, bigger boot space, etc.

The highest price change is noticed in the entry level variant of Ertiga. Older Ertiga petrol variant prices started from Rs 6.34 lakhs and went all the way to Rs 8.85 lakhs. New Ertiga petrol prices start from Rs 7.44 lakhs and go all the way to Rs 9.5 lakhs. Older Ertiga petrol only offered AT option on the VXI trim, while the new Ertiga offers AT on both VXI as well as ZXI. Below are the detailed prices of old and new Ertiga.

Maruti Suzuki India is targeting urban buyers with the new gen Ertiga. Sales of MPVs in 11 major cities of India is increasing. These cities are Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Pune, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Kochi, Jaipur and Lucknow. It is from these 11 markets that Maruti Suzuki also noted around 40% of its total domestic sales; highest coming from Delhi-NCR.

Strong networks across all these 11 top cities has allowed the company to meet new targets while NEXA outlets have augmented sales in urban areas and turned more customers towards the Maruti Suzuki brand. The company holds the leading market share among every other automaker in the country. Among the Maruti Suzuki lineup it has been noted that Vitara Brezza, Beleno, Ciaz, Ertiga and Celerio are in high demand along with DZire, Swift, Alto and WagonR.
