New Maruti Suzuki Ertiga bookings got underway in mid November for a fee of Rs 11,000. In a week’s time at launch, the company announced bookings had crossed 10k units.
Now, a month since launch, new Maruti Ertiga bookings have surpassed 23k units. Available at an entry price point of Rs 7.44 lakh ex-showroom (Delhi), in its new avatar the MPV is larger and brings with a host of new features.
New Ertiga is 99mm longer, 40mm wider and 5mm taller as compared to its predecessor. Its exteriors are noted with large headlamps, chrome grille, a floating roofline and distinctive character lines across its sides. It also gets an oversized fender with integrated airdam and sits on new 15” multi-spoke alloy wheels.
Built on HEARTECT platform, second-gen Ertiga weighs less weigh less than the model it replaced, and has made way for improved cabin space having reduced boot space a bit. 2018 Ertiga is available in 10 variants – LXi, VXi, ZXi and ZXi+ petrol manual variants, VXi and ZXi petrol automatic, and LDi, VDi, ZDi and ZDi+ diesel manual trims.
2018 Maruti Suzuki Ertiga runs on a new petrol engine. The 1.5 litre, in-line four K15B petrol engine returns 103 bhp power and 138 Nm torque mated to a 5 speed manual or 4 speed automatic transmission. The 1.3 litre DDiS engine has been continued and returns 90 bhp power and 200 Nm torque mated to a 5 speed manual transmission. No automatic option is on offer with diesel.
Maruti is currently testing a new 1.5 liter diesel engine for the Ertiga. This option will be launched next year. It is going to be more powerful and more fuel efficient than the current diesel. It will be offered with both automatic and diesel engine option. The Honda BR-V and Mahindra Marazzo slayer, at the time of launch commanded a waiting period of up to 4 weeks.
