Maruti Ertiga sales decline to 3,515 units – Discounts upto Rs 55,000 offered

Sales of Maruti Ertiga in August 2018 were its lowest in quite some time. The Maruti MPV usually averages in the 5,000 units region every month, but for August 2018, it only managed 3,515 units – hinting that the new Ertiga launch is near.

2018 Maruti Suzuki Ertiga will be launched in the last week of October, just ahead of the festive season in the country. To clear stocks, current Ertiga is being sold by dealers at a discount of up to Rs 55,000 depending on the city and model. New Ertiga unofficial bookings are open at Rs 11,000.

2018 Maruti Ertiga will sport some exterior design changes. It will be seen with new chrome grille, alloy wheels, projector headlamps, LED tail lamps, electrically adjustable ORVMs and a revised bumper. It will also grow in dimensions as compared to its current counterpart while interiors will be seen in a dual tone color scheme of beige and black, with premium features and a host of new safety equipment.

On board features will include automatic climate control, roof mounted AC vents, push button start system, height adjustable driver’s seat and tilt adjustable steering wheel. It will also be seen with a 7.0” touchscreen infotainment system supporting both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto with Bluetooth connectivity. In terms of safety, the new Ertiga will get ABS and EBD as standard with dual airbags, reverse parking sensors with camera and ISOFIX child seat mounts.

Despite these exterior and interior modifications, the 2018 Maruti Suzuki Ertiga continues to be powered by the same diesel engine. This is 1.3 liter diesel engine, capable of 89 bhp power and 200 Nm torque mated 5 speed manual gearbox options. The petrol engine is new, the one which is now on offer with Ciaz. The 1.5 liter K Series petrol engine offers 104 bhp power and 138 Nm torque.

2018 Maruti Suzuki Ertiga will replace its older generation model. But, the old Ertiga will continue to be offered exclusively for fleet operators and will carry the ‘Tour’ badge, as is seen on other Maruti cars for taxi segment. New Ertiga MPV is slated to be priced between Rs 7.5 to 10.5 lakhs making it Rs 50,000 to Rs 1 lakh higher than its current counterpart. It will rival Mahindra Marazzo and Toyota Innova Crysta.
