Maruti Ertiga Tour M diesel launch price Rs 9.8 lakh

Maruti Ertiga Tour M Taxi

In May, Maruti introduced the Ertiga Tour M variant in petrol engine option only, for Rs 8 lakhs, ex-sh. Later in July, CNG avatar of the same was launched at Rs 8.83 lakh. The Tour M variant caters exclusively to taxicab and tour operators. The company went ahead and quietly introduced the Tour M diesel variant as well, at a price of Rs 9.81 lakh (both prices are ex-showroom, Delhi).

The Maruti Ertiga Tour M diesel is based on the VDi trim and is cheaper by a little over INR 5,000. While most taxi-focused models undergo significant cost cutting exercise and lose several features, the Ertiga Tour M retains most of the features.

The commercial people carrier variant continues to sport projector headlamps, body colored door handles and ORVMs, hubcaps and LED infused rear combination lamps. The variant is available in three colour options – While, Silver and Black.

On the inside, there is hardly anything missing. The Maruti Ertiga Tour M diesel variant comes equipped with power windows, adjustable steering, rear AC vents, electrically adjustable and foldable ORVMs, keyless entry with remote and so on. As per the new regulations, the MPV comes equipped with dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, Brake Assist, rear parking sensor, speed alert system and front passenger seat belt reminder.

Powering the Ertiga Tour M diesel is the same 1.5-liter DDiS 225 turbocharged motor that also propels the regular variant. The oil burner produces 95 hp and 225 Nm of torque. Paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox, the MPV boasts an ARAI-certified milage of 24.2 kmpl which would be appreciated by tour operators.

The Maruti Ertiga is one of the very few products which has been defying the ongoing industry slowdown. The 7-seater which entered into second generation not long ago is popular among private buyers as well as taxicab operators.

Maruti recently launched a spruced up premium version of the Ertiga dubbed as XL6. The XL6 with its crossover-ish lines attempts to lure younger audience and is retailed through the Nexa network. Together, Ertiga and XL6 managed to register sales of over 10k units on average for Aug and Sep.

Having launched the eagerly anticipated S-Presso micro crossover, the automaker is currently preparing to introduce a premium version of the WagonR hatchback. The new variant is question is expected to joint the Nexa lineup.
