Maruti Suzuki Fronx Sigma draws its power via a 1.2 liter petrol engine with manual transmission and is priced at Rs. 7.47 lakh
Maruti Suzuki India Limited launched the new Fronz coupe crossover in India on 24th April 2023. It is offered in five variants of Sigma, Delta, Delta+, Zeta and Alpha and in nine exterior colours of Blue (Celestial), Grandeur Grey, Earthen Brown, Earthen Brown with Black roof, Opulent Red, Opulent Red with Black roof, Splendid Silver, Splendid Silver With Black roof and Arctic White.
Dimensions stand at 3,995mm length, 1,765mm width and 1,550mm height with a 2,520 mm wheelbase and a kerb weight of 965 kgs. Ground clearance is at 190mm which is best in its class. Maruti Fronx is on sale via the company’s Nexa outlets and having opened order books earlier, it has already garnered over 15,000 bookings. Base Spec Fronx Sigma Variant Walkaround
Maruti Suzuki Fronx Sigma trim is priced at Rs 7.46 lakh with an on-road price of about Rs 9 lakh. The higher trims are priced from Rs 8.32 lakh to Rs 13.13 lakh(ex-showroom). These are all introductory prices. Fronx Sigma boasts of SUV inspired designs with exteriors borrowed from the Grand Vitara and interiors strikingly similar to the Baleno. The base Sigma trim gets 16 inch steel wheels fitted with Goodyear tyres. The Delta trim also receives a similar steel wheel set up while alloy wheels are seen from the Delta+ trim onwards.
A blacked out front grille with some chrome accents, blacked out door handles, wing mirrors and B and C pillars are a part of its exterior designs. Fronx Sigma also gets projector headlamps, split LED turn indicators and silver finished skid plates at the front and rear. Interiors of the Fronx Sigma is seen in a two tone colour scheme of brown and dark grey fabric on its seats and a three tone finish on its dashboard. It gets power windows, automatic climate control, 60:40 split rear seat backs with adjustable headrests, steering wheel with tilt adjustment and keyless entry. It however misses out on a touchscreen infotainment or music system and steering mounted controls which are seen on the higher variants.
Safety features include rear parking sensors, rear defogger, remote central locking system, hill hold assist, dual airbags and ESP. It also gets hill start assist, 5×3-point seatbelts and electronic stability control along with day/night inside mirror.
90 hp, DualJet Petrol Engine
Maruti Fronz is offered in two engine options. However, the Sigma trim gets powered via a 1.2 liter, K12C, Dualjet petrol engine that offers 90 hp power and 113 Nm torque mated to a 5 speed manual transmission. The higher spec Delta and Delta+ trims also get this same engine but mated to an optional 5 speed AMT.
Delta+, Zeta and Alpha variants also draw power via a 1.0 liter turbocharged petrol engine claiming 100 hp power and 147 Nm torque mated to 5 speed manual and 6 speed automatic transmission options. Maruti Suzuki Fronx competes with other compact SUVs that include the Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300, Kia Sonet, Renault Kiger and Nissan Magnite.
