Leading car manufacturers, Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) has announced total sales (including exports) of 126,569 units during April 2016, reporting 13.3% growth. Of this, domestic sales accounted for 117,045 units (+16.2%) while 9,524 (-13.7%) units were exported. This was against domestic sales of 100,709 units and exports of 11,039 units respectively in April 2015.
Segment wise break up of sales during April 2016 saw the Alto and WagonR in the mini segment with total sales of 31,906 units as against 35,403 units sold in April 2015. In the compact segment, total sales of Swift, Ritz, Celerio, Baleno, Dzire stood at 45,700 units as compared to 42,297 units sold in this segment in April 2015.5,702 units of Maruti Suzuki Ciaz were sold during the past month, up 22.3 percent as compared to 4,662 units sold in April 2015.
The UV segment featuring Gypsy, Ertiga, S-Cross, Vitara Brezza saw a huge boost of 260.4 percent with 16,044 units sold as against 4,452 sold in April 2015. This was mainly due to new Vitara Brezza SUV.
In the van segment, 14,520 units of Omni and Eeco were sold in April 2016 as compared to 12,069 units sold in April 2015. MSIL aims to double its sales networks to 4,000 by 2020 and add to its NEXA showrooms from a current 127 to 250 over the next few months. They also plan on opening NEXA exclusive service centers.
Speaking about Hyundai Motors India, the company saw an increase of 9.7 percent in domestic sales during April 2016 with a total of 42,351 units sold while exports dipped 6.5 percent to 12,069 units. This was against 38,601 domestic sales and 12,904 exports in April 2015. Outstanding demand was noted where the Creta, Elite i20 and Hyundai Grand i10 was concerned following strong after sales service and lower cost of ownership.
