Maruti Ignis customization options – Details and Price

Maruti launched their new car in India, the Ignis. At the launch event, Maruti Suzuki explained the reason behind developing Ignis.

As per Maruti, there are a variety of cars which are on offer in the country today, but none are specifically developed for the young generation (those who are born in the late 80s and early 90s). It is this group of people Maruti is going to target with the new Ignis. Maruti refers to these individuals as ‘Millennials’.

As per stats, India has about 440 million people who are below the age group of 29 years (more than the population of the US). This number continues to increase and by 2020 India will become the world’s youngest nation. But in spite of this, there is not a single car in the country which caters to the demand of Millenails, says Maruti. This is what conceived the idea of Ignis about 3.5 years ago, adds Maruti.

Maruti says that the Ignis is ‘Unconventional and Iconic’, exactly like those millions of Millennials out there. Millenials are not orthodox, they ask ‘why not’, challenge set parameters, push boundaries, are focused, know what they want in life, and are career oriented.

The new Maruti Ignis, for example, is also like the Millenials. It is a car that is unprecedented in everything it offers. The design of the car is unlike any other car on offer in India. It comes with customization options which are not limited to only exteriors. Using Maruti’s new iCreate app, you can digitally customize the Ignis’ exteriors, decals, roof finish, dashboard accents, seat covers, and so on.

Speaking about exteriors, the boxy shape is spruced up by means of a sporty front grille, projector headlamp clusters with integrated daytime running lights, roof rails, black plastic lower body cladding and alloy wheels.

Interior design has hardly anything in common with any of the existing Maruti car. New steering wheel, digi-analog instrument console, dual-tone dashboard and a standalone infotainment screen are the highlights. The car will seat 5 passengers.

For engine, the new Ignis will be offered with both petrol and diesel. In addition to this, because being unconventional is what Ignis is, it will also be offered with manual as well as automatic (AMT) transmission option for both engine options. Engine options will be in the form of 1.2 liter petrol and 1.3 liter diesel. These are the same engines on offer with Swift, generating 83 bhp @ 6000 RPM / 115 Nm @ 4000 RPM and 74 bhp @ 4000 RPM / 190 Nm @ 2000 RPM respectively. Maruti Ignis fuel efficiency claims to be at 20.89 kmpl for petrol variants and 26.80 kmpl for diesel variants.

For infotainment, Ignis gets a smart 7 inch touchscreen infotainment system with Mirrorlink tech, which is compatible with Android as well as Apple smartphones. For safety, Maruti will offer dual airbags and ABS as standard with the Ignis. It will also get ISOFIX anchorage, which is a child seat restraint system.

Ignis is offered via Maruti’s premium NEXA outlets, because their target customers would prefer it that way. With bookings being accepted online, via the company’s Nexa website, it is now revealed that the bookings have crossed the 10,000 mark, confirming a good start for another Maruti car.
