The Maruti Ignis, a near production mini SUV concept, made its Indian debut at the 2016 Auto Expo which is currently under way. The crossover has already started testing in the country, signalling that it would be launched here before the end of this year, perhaps during the festive season that starts in September.
The Ignis will slot below the Vitara Brezza which is also being showcased at the expo. The car will be positioned as a crossover alternative to the B-segment hatchbacks. It will pickup up a fight against the recently launched Mahindra KUV100.
The compact Ingis measures 3,679 mm in length, 1,579 mm in height and 1,478 mm in width. It has a wheelbase and ground clearance of 2,435 mm and 180 mm respectively. At 133 litres, the boot space is rather modest but by folding the split rear seats, it can be increased up to 415 litres.
Equipment on the top-end variant includes dual airbags, ABS with EBD, projector headlights, LED daytime running lights, fog lamps, alloy wheels, roof rails, infotainment system, multifunction steering wheel and so on.
