Showcased at 2016 Auto Expo in Greater Noida earlier this month, the new Maruti Ignis compact SUV was recently spotted on test. Set to launch in India later this year, the new Ignis compact SUV will be slotted below the Vitara Brezza, and will compete against Mahindra KUV100.
Maruti Suzuki Ignis will be sold through exclusive NEXA dealerships once launched. The India-spec model will be similar in style and stance to the model on sale in Japan. It will measure 3,700 mm in length, 1,660 mm in width and 1,595 mm in height.
The new Ignis will sit on a wheelbase measuring 2,435 mm while ground clearance will stand at 180 mm. Chrome grill and roof rails will be evident on the India-spec model while it will be seen with projector headlamps, blackened A and B pillars and flared wheel arches along with 18” 10 spoke alloy wheels.
Engine lineup for the Maruti Suzuki Ignis in India will include both petrol and diesel options. It is expected to receive a 1.2-liter K12B engine with VVT while the diesel engine will be a 1.3 liter DDiS engine fitted with Suzuki SHVS mild hybrid technology. Both engines will be mated to a 5-speed manual transmission while a CVT could also be on offer where the petrol variant is concerned.
