Maruti Jimny 5 door was first showcased at the 2023 Auto Expo – It has now arrived at dealer showroom ahead of launch
Maruti Suzuki India is getting ready to add two new SUVs to their line-up. These are Jimny 5 door and Fronx. Both these SUVs had made their global debut in Jan 2023, at the Auto Expo. In the past few weeks, we saw Maruti showcase the Fronx at their Nexa outlets across India. This was being done so as to give customers / buyers a first hand experience ahead of launch.
Maruti Jimny Dealer Debut – First look for customers and buyers
Same strategy was planned for the Jimny 5 door. Many buyers were waiting to get an in-person look of the new Jimny. For those, there is good news. Maruti Jimny 5 door has started arriving at dealer showrooms. The first unit of the Maruti Jimny 5 door is now on display at a Nexa dealership in Delhi. The Maruti Suzuki Jimny is being presented in two variants of Zeta and Alpha. Positioned between the Brezza and Grand Vitara in the company portfolio, the new Jimny boasts of a ladder on frame chassis. It also gets Suzuki’s AllGrip Pro four-wheel drive (4WD) as standard, delivering best in class on-road as well as off-road experience.
Maruti Jimny To Deliver Unmatched Off-roading Experience
The Jimny 5-door will be powered by a 1.5 liter K15B petrol engine offering 103 hp power and 134 Nm torque mated to a 5 speed manual or 4 speed torque converter automatic unit. Despite delivering lower power and torque than rival Mahindra Thar, Jimny delivers the same power-to-weight ratio, thanks to a lower kerb weight.
Jimny is packed with the latest in terms of technology and safety. It will come in 7 attractive colour schemes of Pearl Arctic White, Bluish Black, Nexa Blue, Granite Gray, Sizzling Red, Kinetic Yellow with a Bluish Black roof, and Sizzling Red with a Bluish Black roof. Maruti Jimny prices are expected to be in the Rs 10 lakh to Rs 15 lakh range.
Maruti Jimny Launch Plans – Production To Start Soon
Bookings of the new Maruti Jimny and Fronx have already opened. Together, Maruti has recorded over 30,000 booking order for their new SUVs. Apart from these two new models, the company has also been receiving increased demand for its other offerings.
Pending orders in the 3rd quarter of Dec 2022 had stood at 3.63 lakh which along with new bookings along with those for the newly introduced models has now risen to stand at 4.05 lakhs. Considering the ease in supplies of semiconductors, production operations will be ramped up thereby reducing waiting period. Production of the new Jimny and Fronx will soon start at the company plant. Launch is expected in May 2023.
Maruti Suzuki sales have been rising significantly over the past couple of years. In CY2022, Maruti Suzuki led the sales charts by a significant margin over Hyundai and Tata Motors. Maruti Sales touched the 15.76 lakh unit mark, up from 13.64 lakh units sold in 2021. This was a 16 percent YoY growth though market share dipped from 44.79 percent in 2021 to 41.68 percent in 2022.
