Maruti July 2018 sales at 1.64 lakh cars – Decline marginally compared to last year

Maruti Suzuki India continues to maintain their leading position in the Indian auto industry. Today, they revealed their sales report for the month of July 2018. As per their report, total sales for the period stood at 164,369, which is a decline by 0.6% as compared to July 2017, when the company posted sales of 165,346 units.

In the domestic market, Maruti Suzuki sales stood at 154,150 as compared to 154,001 units sold in July 2017. This is a decline of 0.1%. Exports during last month stood at 10,219 units as compared to 11,345 units sold last year. Exports too declined, by 9.9%.

After posting record double digit growth for months together, Maruti posted a slight decline in sales. It is not clear as to why this decline, as most of their cars are still in demand and come with waiting period. Speaking about sales, in the Mini segment (Alto, WagonR), sales declined by 10.9% as the company sold 37,710 units as against 42,310 units.

In the Compact segment (Swift, Celerio, Ignis, Baleno, Dzire, Tour S), the company posted sales of 74,373 units as against 63,116 units sold last year. Thereby posting a growth of 17.8%. In the Utility Vehicle segment (Gypsy, Ertiga, S-Cross, Vitara Brezza), the company sold 24,505 units as against 25,781 units, registering decline of 4.9%. Below is the detailed sales report.

Speaking about future launches, Maruti Suzuki is getting ready to launch the all new Ciaz later this month. On the 20th Aug, 2018 Maruti Ciaz will be launched. After this, the car maker plans to launch the new gen Ertiga and WagonR by Diwali 2018. Launch of these cars will help the company increase their sales even further.

Last month, Maruti Suzuki celebrated the manufacturing of their 20th million car. They now plan to sell 2 million cars every year by 2020 and 5 million cars per year by 2030.
