Maruti LCV Super Carry first phase launch plans revealed

It was back in 2012, when it was first reported that Maruti Suzuki India will enter the country’s lucrative entry level commercial vehicle segment. About 4 years later, Maruti is all set to achieve that dream.

Today, country’s largest passenger car maker, revealed the first ever photo of Super Carry, their new Light Commercial Vehicle to take on the likes of Mahindra Maxximo and Tata Ace.

Maruti Super Carry LCV

Made in India, Maruti Super Carry has already been launched in South Africa earlier this year. To be powered by the same 800 cc, two-cylinder diesel engine which powers the new Celerio diesel, Super Carry LCV will only be on sale in three cities in first phase. These three cities are – Ahmedabad, Kolkata and Ludhiana. Maruti has invested INR 300 crores in the development of Super Carry.

Though deliveries will only commence in late August, the company has confirmed pricing. In Ahmedabad, price of Maruti Super Carry will start from INR 4.03 lakhs, in Kolkata it will start from INR 4.11 lakhs, and in Ludhiana it will start from INR 4.01 lakhs.

The reason Maruti is launching Super Carry in phases is because along with new LCV they are also launching new dealer network. Yes, Maruti Super Carry will be sold at new dealerships, and not at existing Maruti dealers. As of now, the new CV dealerships are setup in Ahmedabad, Kolkata and Ludhiana. Maruti aims to launch more dealership before the end of this year.
