2017 Maruti Ciaz arrives at NEXA – Ditches the Maruti badge

After failing for years, Maruti hit the nail on its head with the Ciaz, which has finally ended the reign of Honda City in the segment. With Maruti Ciaz the new No 1 in the segment, the company is on a roll. In no mood to lose the momentum to close rivals Hyundai Verna and Honda City, both of which are going to get updated next year, Maruti Suzuki plans on launching a mildly updated Ciaz in order maintain the status quo.

With Hyundai Verna all set to get a new generation variant in 2017, and Honda City a facelift, Maruti Suzuki India plans to launch the new Ciaz by as early as April 2017. As seen on other cars sold via Nexa, there will be no Maruti badging on the car. It will only have Suzuki logo, as seen in the image below.

Maruti’s flagship sedan continues to be sold via their traditional dealers, and not their premium dealership called Nexa. With the launch of new Ciaz, that too will happen. Yes, the updated Ciaz will be retailed via Nexa outlets. This will be the biggest boost as it will mark the entry of Ciaz into Maruti’s premium outlet.

NEXA stands for New EXclusive Automotive experience. It was launched with the sole purpose of enriching buying experience of their customers. With only three of their products on offer until now, Maruti Suzuki has plans to add two more cars to their NEXA outlets.

By the end of last year, Maruti NEXA sold 40,000 units via their 95 outlets across India. Of these 40,000 units, 23,000 were Baleno’s and 17,000 units were S-Cross’. By the end of Jan 2017, Maruti opened 200 NEXA outlets across India. This along with adding new cars to the NEXA, will result in a substantial increase in sales.

Maruti also adds that half the buyers who purchased vehicles from NEXA were thinking about purchasing a rival product. But the hospitality received by customers at NEXA, tipped their decision in Maruti’s favour. Maruti Suzuki says that the success NEXA has received is phenomenal and in line with their expectations.
