Maruti Suzuki India Limited has entered into an alliance with Ola Cabs, online taxi aggregator, for training of driver partners under the ‘Maruti Ola Training Program’. As per the terms of agreement, the company expects to train around 40,000 Ola partner drivers in matters of urban safe driving techniques over the next three years.

For a start, the training program will be initiated in Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai and NCR while plans are afoot to launch the driver training program in Pune, Mumbai and Ahmedabad sometime later.

These drivers, so trained, will find better opportunities with Ola in terms of infrastructure, financing and continuous revenue while to date, Ola has trained over 5 lakh driver partners on its platform.

Maruti Suzuki India Limited has used this initiative to offer safe and quality driving techniques to drivers and have set up a comprehensive training program which will include theory and practical lessons along with simulators.

Besides driving techniques, the sessions will also include soft skills for drivers in matters of grooming, manners and etiquette. Drivers will be guided through maintenance of vehicles, fuel efficiency techniques, understanding of road signs and management of vehicle controls and mechanisms.

On successful completion of the course, Maruti Suzuki will also aid these drivers to procure commercial licenses, have access to easy vehicle financing and purchase their own vehicles. Ola aims to target over 50 lakh driver partners through this initiative by the year 2022.
