This new engine is from the new family of petrol turbocharged engines, which Maruti Suzuki is currently developing. Called, Direct Injection Turbo Charged (DiCT), this new engine family will primarily include 1.0l, 1.2l and 1.5l engines, which will power the future Maruti Suzuki cars in India.
Maruti Suzuki will launch the YRA with three cylinder 1.0l engine by end of 2015, where it will be placed above the existing Swift hatchback. YRA will be a global car, with India being one of the most important market for the car. It will also be launched in outer countries under the Suzuki nameplate.
Once launched in the YRA, this new 1.0l three pot engine might also be made available in their other cars – Alto K10, Celerio, Swift, Wagon R. Considering the success Maruti Suzuki has tasted with the introduction of AMT, it is safe to believe that their new-age cars will also be seen with AMT options. Mileage will be in the range of 20 kmpl for the 1.0l turbocharged engine.
