Maruti Suzuki‘s Royal Platinum Extended Warranty is a no barriers 5 year Extended Warranty Program for all cars on offer. The extended warranty program aims to protect vehicle owners from unexpected repair costs for five years, or 1 lakh kilometers, whichever is earlier.
The move in some way also defers car buying decisions. Ordinarily, a car buying decision is made in the 3-5 years period of ownership. An extended 5 year warranty plan is likely to postpone the car buying decision to 5-7 years. Royal Platinum Extended Warranty programme makes available free of cost on road emergency service assistance, and can be availed across the full network of Maruti Suzuki Authorized Dealer Workshops.
Royal Platinum Extended Warranty is being extended to current owners too as they can upgrade to the new warranty plan.
The plan aims to offer a sense of security for costs involved in high value parts (Compressor, ECM, Turbo Charger Assembly, etc).
In October 2017, Maruti Suzuki India reported sales of 146,446 units (including exports), up 9.5 percent from October 2016, when the company sold 133,793 units. Maruti Suzuki retails about 1.2 lakh vehicles each month. Of this, 70 percent customers use the extended warranty program.
For suspension, front gets McPerson Strut while rear gets torsion beam setup.The other long term warranty programmes on offer from Maruti are: Platinum (four years/ 80,000 kms); Gold (three years / 60,000 kms) extended warranty programs. Customers using any of the existing warranty programmes can upgrade at a nominal fee.
Royal Platinum Extended Warranty programme offers protection for additional period and kilometers, and from costs involved in repairing manufacturing defects.
