Maruti S-Cross will be the company’s third launch this year, set to take on popular nameplates like Ford EcoSport, Renault Duster, Nissan Terrano, Mahindra XUV-500 and upcoming Hyundai ix25.
The crossover was unveiled at 2014 Delhi Auto Expo, showing off exterior elements that make the car look somewhat rugged. Includes twin-slat chrome front grille, sizeable headlamps with projector lights, stylish bumpers with silver coloured scuff plates, chrome inserts around fog lamps, side mirrors with integrated run indicators, chrome door handles, roof rails, large diameter alloy wheels, lower body cladding and sporty tail lamps.
Maruti S-Cross would be known for its richness in features, as it will equip touchscreen infotainment system with video playback and navigation (would be the SmartPlay system debuted in Ciaz sedan), steering mounted audio and call controls, push button for engine Start/Stop, automatic climate control, Airbags, ABS, EBD and probably the Suzuki AllGrip AWD (All Wheel Drive) system as well.Power for Maruti Suzuki S-Cross will most likely be drawn from 1.4 litre K14B petrol engine with 5-speed transmission seen in Ertiga MPV and Ciaz sedan, and 1.6 litre Fiat-sourced Multi-Jet Diesel engine (just like the international variants of Suzuki SX4 S-Cross) with 6-speed gearbox. Maruti S-Cross is also believed to debut a new 1.5 litre derivative of the 1.6 litre MJD.
