To rival with Renault Duster and Nissan Terrano, Maruti S-Cross is likely to be powered by 1.6 litre petrol engine pushing 120 PS maximum power and 156 Nm peak torque. A 1.6 litre Multijet diesel mill from Fiat producing 120 PS top power and 320 Nm highest torque is also a possible candidate for upcoming Maruti S-Cross.
Both motors will be mated to 6 speed manual transmission system, sending power to front wheels. Word about Suzuki’s Allgrip 4×4 feature to equip in Indian SX4 S-Cross is not confirmed yet. An automatic gearbox might also be on offer, like it is in Europe.
Interiors as per recent spy shots look very similar to European Suzuki SX4 S-Cross. Three spoke steering wheel with audio controls, silver surround AC vents, full black dashboard and door panels, subtle silver motifs here and there, simple looking centre console and analog speedo & tachometer dials separated by LCD display in instrument cluster.
Exterior carries usual crossover specific scuff plates and lower body black plastic cladding. Distinctive front grille, large headlamps, LED Daytime Running Lights (DRL) and 16 inch alloy wheels gives Maruti S-Cross immense road presence. The niche segment entrant abounds in safety equipment; gets 5 star rating in Euro NCAP safety tests.
