Indian version of S-Cross, as revealed by previous spyshots, features silver twin slate grille, silver skid plates, black lower body cladding with silver inserts, slightly raised ground clearance and 16-inch alloy wheels. The crossover ditches ‘Maruti Suzuki’ badge on the tailgate, and wears only variant and engine badges.
Maruti has decided to go for an all-black interior color theme with silver inserts. In terms of equipment, fully loaded variants offer SmartPlay touchscreen infotainment system, multifunction steering wheel, automatic climate control with rear AC vents and so on.
Powering the compact crossover is a 1.6-litre MultiJet diesel engine sourced from Fiat. Power and torque figures stand at 120 PS and 320 Nm respectively. A 6-speed manual transmission drives the front wheels. Maruti is also expected offer a 120 PS 1.6-litre petrol motor.
Maruti S-Cross will be sold through the newly established premium retail outlets called Nexa. These dealerships cater to the brand’s expensive products such as Ciaz, S-Cross and upcoming YRA hatchback and YBA mini SUV.
With an estimated price range of INR 8-12 lakhs (ex-showroom), Maruti S-Cross will lock horns with Renault Duster, Nissan Terrano and soon-to-be-launched Hyundai Creta.
