Maruti Suzuki has reported a 12.56 percent YoY and 3.43 percent MoM growth in PV sales April 2023
Maruti Suzuki India Limited continued its reign in the passenger vehicle segment in India in April 2023. Sales stood at 1,37,320 units in domestic markets in the past month, a YoY growth of 12.56 percent over 1,21,995 units sold in April 2022. This was a volume growth of 15,325 units. MoM sales also grew by 3.43 percent or 4,557 units from 1,32,763 units sold in March 2023.
Maruti Suzuki had the Alto and S-Presso in the mini segment and Baleno, Celerio, Dzire, Ignis, Swift, Tour S and WagonR in the compact segment. Sales of the Alto and S-Presso dipped to 14,110 units in April 2023 from 17,137 units sold in April 2022. However, of the compact range, the company received added attention with 74,935 units sold in April 2023 from 59,184 units sold in the same month of the previous year.
Maruti Suzuki Sales April 2023
Sales in the mini and compact segment grew 16.7 percent to 89,045 units in April 2023 from 76,321 units sold in April 2022. The 2024 Maruti Suzuki Swift is getting ready for launch. It is currently on test and is expected to make its global debut sometime next year.
The mid-size sedan segment had the Ciaz with 1,017 units sold last month, up from 579 units sold in April 2022. Total sales of these three segments hence improved to 90,062 units in April 2023 from 76,900 units sold in April 2022.
Sales of Utility Vehicles (Brezza, Ertiga, S-Cross, XL6, Grand Vitara and new Fronx) improved by 8.3 percent to 36,754 units in April 2023 from 33,941 units sold in April 2022. Eeco van sales dipped YoY to 10,504 units from 11,154 units sold in April 2022.
Light Commercial Vehicle segment that included the Super Carry saw its sales fall by 50 percent in April 2023. Sales which had stood at 4,266 units in April 2022 fell to 2,199 units in the past month. In April 2023, the company introduced the 2023 Super Carry at Rs 5.3 lakh (ex-showroom). It comes in with added power and higher fuel efficiency which could spruce up sales in the months ahead.
Total domestic sales (PV and LCV) thus improved to 1,39,519 units in April 2023 from 1,26,261 units sold in April 2022. Sales to other OEMs also fell on a YoY basis to 4,039 units in April 2023 from 5,987 units sold in April 2022. This took total domestic sales (PV+LCV+OEM) to 1,43,558 units, up from 1,32,248 units sold in April 2022.
Maruti Suzuki Exports April 2023
Maruti Suzuki reported a fall in exports in April 2023 by 7.8 percent. The company shipped 16,971 units in the past month as against 18,413 units shipped in April 2022 relating to a 1,442 unit volume de-growth. Total sales of the automaker that included both domestic sales and exports rose to 1,60,529 units in April 2023 from 1,50,661 units sold in April 2022.
