Maruti Suzuki, the country’s largest carmaker is at top of charts this September with their No. 1 best seller Maruti Suzuki Alto. Sales of the model dipped marginally from sales of 21,550 units in August 2014 to 19,906 units in September but continued to be at the top position. On second spot was Maruti Swift, sales of which were at 17,265 units, as compared to 17,716 units sold last month. After Swift it was Maruti DZire, with sales of 16,964 units, followed by WagonR in fourth place with 15,641 units sold. Maruti’s fifth car in the list is Celerio, at 6,382 units sold.
September was also the month which registered a decline in salesfor the first time in four months in India. All Maruti cars in the list above, registered sales which were less than their respective sales in August. Falling sales in September came as a surprise for automakers who had predicted increased sales during the upcoming festive season. More sales are expected this month, but the first week of October also proved to be one of the worst periods due to banks being closed for almost a week. Because of which transactions were delayed causing many buyers to put off auto purchases. Auto makers now expect a recovery from the second half of this month.
To continue fuel further growth, Maruti is all ready with three new cars – Alto K10 facelift, Swift facelift and DZire facelift. All three of which have been already spotted in company plant. Launch is expected to take place in the coming weeks.
