Maruti Suzuki produced 99,236 cars in July 2013 as against, 75,709 cars produced in July 2013. The segment which registered highest growth, is the sedan segment, in which MSI sells SX4 and Swift DZire. This segment registered 86.5% growth in production (21,613 unts), mainly due to high demand for DZire.
Small cars like Alto, A Star and Wagon R production increased from 36,349 units to 43,313 units (19.15%) in July 2013, while that of mid-sized small cars, Ritz, Swift and Estillo increased from 13,179 to 20,621 (56.46%). Eeco and Omni production too was increased from 7,248 units to 8,032 units. The only segment which registered decline in production, features the one with Gypsy and Ertiga, as production declined from 7,343 units to 5,657 units last month.
Sales during July 2013 totaled 83,299 units as compared to 82,234 units in the same month of the previous year. Sales within the country increased 5.8% with a total of 75,145 units sold as compared to 71,024 units sold in July 2012. Out of these it was M800, Alto, A Star and Wagon R that received the most attention with 33,587 units sold as compared to 28,998 units sold in July 2012. Where sales of Swift, Estilo and Ritz were concerned, MSIL reported a drop in sales, down 11.9% to 13,882 units in July 2013 as compared to 15,759 units in July 2012.
It was DZire sedan that received most attention with sales up 33.6% during the month and 15,249 units sold as against 11,413 units sold in July 2012. The company also sold 322 units of SX4 sedan but failed to sell any units of the Kizashi sedan during July. SUVs such as the Gypsy, Grand Vitara and Ertiga clocked sales of 4,562 units during July 2013, down 37.5% as compared to 7,294 units sold in July 2012. Exports during the month in question were also down 27.3% to just 8,154 units as compared to 11,210 units exported in July 2012.
