While the company already has three manufacturing facilities in India, the fourth unit is poised to commence operation in 2025
India’s leading car manufacturer, Maruti Suzuki, is known to achieve multiple milestones along its manufacturing journey. They have India’s biggest car portfolio, split between Arena and Nexa dealerships. The company has a massive lead in sales, something rival brands can seldom match.
At the fag end of 2024, Maruti Suzuki has achieved a massive feat in sales by selling 2 million units in a calendar year. This is a massive achievement for the brand and signifies Maruti Suzuki’s sheer scale of manufacturing and its position in India as a car maker.
Maruti Suzuki Hits 2 Million Sales Milestone
The company sold 20 lakh units in one calendar year, which translates to 1,66,666 units sold per month on average. Maruti Suzuki becomes the first passenger vehicle manufacturer in India to achieve this incredible feat. Even in Maruti Suzuki’s own history, this is the first time the company has sold 2 million units in a calendar year.
Notably, Maruti Suzuki also became the first manufacturer under the Suzuki Motor Corporation’s global manufacturing facilities. The 2 millionth vehicle manufactured by the company was an Ertiga MPV at the company’s state-of-the-art facility in Manesar, Haryana.
Baleno, Fronx, Ertiga, WagonR and Brezza were the company’s highest-selling vehicles sold in calendar year 2024. Out of the 2 million vehicles sold in calendar year 2024, 60% were manufactured in Manesar facility in Haryana and the remaining 40% units were manufactured in company’s Gujarat facility.
Currently, Maruti Suzuki manages all of its manufacturing operations from two facilities in Haryana and one in Gujarat. The ones in Haryana state are situated in Gurgaon and Manesar and the one in Gujarat is situated in Hansalpur. Combined, the company has 2.35 million annual production capacity, which is being increased to 4 million, to accommodate growing demand.
There’s a new facility coming up in Kharkhoda, Haryana, which is expected to be operational in 2025 with a production capacity of 2.5 lakh units per annum. The company is also on the verge of searching a site to install a new facility with 1 million production facility.
