Keen to enhance its greener car target even further, Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) has put in great efforts into the development of their new cars. Maruti Suzuki India fleet now offers higher fuel efficiency, lower auto emissions while some in the fleet also offer use of alternative fuel.
Suzuki Motor Corp, parent company of MSIL had also showcased three new technologies at Geneva Motor Show in March last year. These included new generation lightweight platform, Boosterjet engine – a scaled down direct injection turbo petrol engine besides SHVS mild hybrid system.
The first and last have already made their way into Maruti cars in India, while the BoosterJet will make debut later this year on board the Baleno RS. This shows the company’s commitment towards offering greener cars which emits lesser pollutants into the atmosphere.
The central government has now woken up to the fact that something needs to be done to curb growing pollution in cities such as Delhi NCR. While Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of (Hybrid &) Electric Vehicles (FAME) initiative was announced in April last year, MSIL’s initiative to curb growing emissions goes back to 2006.
MSIL was the first to introduce factory fitted CNG vehicles in the country. As on date, MSIL has a host of models running on both CNG and petrol that include Alto, Alto K10, Celerio, Wagon R, Eeco and Ertiga. CNG variants of Alto K10 and Celerio have also been introduced in 2014-15 which boast of intelligent gas port injection technology offering highest level of fuel efficiency in its class.
Besides introducing the most fuel efficient vehicles and concentrating on lower auto emission, MSIL factories too adhere to process whereby emissions are at their lowest while use of solar energy and use of cleaner fuel for production of electricity is adhered to.
