Maruti Suzuki June 2015 sales report: 114,756 cars sold, 1.8% growth

India’s largest car manufacturer, Maruti Suzuki India continues to post positive sales growth. For June 2015, they registered total sales of 114,756 cars, including exports. This resulted in the company posting growth of 1.8% as compared to sales registered in the same month last year.

Maruti Suzuki has plans to launch new cars in India to increase market share.

Surprisingly, the biggest drivers for Maruti Suzuki in June 2015 were not their mini cars (Alto and WagonR), but their compact cars (Swift, Celerio, Ritz and Dzire). Sales of Maruti mini cars declined by 27.9% to 34,336 units as against 47,618 units sold in June 2014. On the other hand, sales of Maruti compact cars increased by 24.4% to 45,701 units as against 36,741 sold in June 2014.

In the mid-size segment, which has the SX4 and Ciaz sedan on offer, Maruti Suziki sales stood at 3,700 as against just 322 units sold in the month of June 2014. This is due to the new Ciaz (launched in Oct 2014), which has become the second best selling car in the segment in India (only after Honda City).

Maruti Suzuki Utility vehicles and vans too posted positive growth. For UVs, Maruti Suzuki offers Gypsy, Grand Vitara and Ertiga while for vans they have Omni and Eeco. Sales in UV segment grew 10.6% to 5,531 units as against 5,003 units; while sales of Maruti vans grew by 7.5% to 10,465 units as against 9,738 units in June 2015.

Maruti Suzuki exports too increased for the month of June 2015. As compared to June 2014, when the company exported 11,809 cars, in June 2015 the company exported 12,130 cars; a 2.7% increase.

The company now looks forward to penetrate the auto industry even further with launch of new cars. They recently launched the Celerio diesel, which is powered by company’s first two cylinder 793 cc engine. Next launch is of S-Cross which will be launched next month. Maruti will also launch an LCV – Super Carry which will be powered by the same 793 cc diesel engine.

After this, Maruti has plans to launch a premium hatchback (YRA) and a compact SUV (YBA). Both could be launched at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo in February 2016.
