Maruti Suzuki registers 5.2 percent sales growth in January 2012
India’s largest car manufacturer, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. has posted a positive growth rate of 5.2% for the month of January 2012. MSIL sold a total of 115,433 units last month, which is an increase of 5.2% compared to Jan 2011 sales figures, when the manufacturer sold 109,743 units. Maruti Suzuki has surprised market analysts by posting a 5.4% growth rate, as they had predicted MSIL sales to decline by 8.4% for the month of January 2012.
Of the total registered sales, Maruti Suzuki exported 14,386 units while 101,047 units were sold in the domestic markets. Compared to year on year figures, Maruti Suzuki domestic sales do not look impressive as their sales increased by 0.6% compared to January 2011 domestic sales, which stood at 100,422 units.
While on the other hand, Maruti Suzuki export figures for Jan 2012 surged by 54.3%. Maruti Suzuki successfully exported a total of 14,386 cars in the month of January 2012 compared to just 9,321 cars exported in Jan 2011. Maruti Suzuki share prices surged by 3% on the National Stock Exchange at 10:18 AM IST.
