Showcased in India at 2014 Auto Expo in February, Maruti Suzuki S Cross made its world debut at the Geneva Motor Show last year, and is already on sale in Europe. Being offered with both petrol and diesel engine options, S Cross receives a 1.6 liter petrol engine capable of 120 PS peak power and 156 Nm peak torque while being mated to a 5 speed manual gearbox or CVT.
The diesel motor is borrowed from Fiat and is capable of 120 PS peak power and 320 Nm peak torque mated to a 6 speed manual transmission. Apart from this, it is also rumoured that another diesel engine of 1.6l capacity, sourced from Peugeot, will also be on offer. Both 4×2 and 4×4 variants will be on offer.
Measuring a total of 4,300 mm in length, 1,765 mm in width, 1,575 mm in height and sitting on a wheelbase of 2,600 mm, Maruti Suzuki has not been able to keep length under 4 meters and hence pricing could be in the region of INR 12-14 lakhs.
Maruti Suzuki S Cross, once launched in India will compete with the likes of Renault Duster, Nissan Terrano, and Mahindra Scorpio.
