Professional drifter, Amon Oliver has many aces up his sleeves. And while there’s no questioning his capable hands, it’s the festive cheer he brings on that paints a pretty picture. His season special video has all the right moves, light effects, and ornaments. And then there’s that Christmas tree perched atop. Baubles, tassels, snowflake, and snow. Plenty of it, and more. And drifting galore.
And no, we’re not entertaining rants about the dangling right mirror. That side jump does command a few replays. Powerslides and free terrain to do as you please go hand in hand, which makes this a feat to watch than do.
In India, new gen Maruti Swift is available with a petrol and diesel engine. The 1.2-litre petrol engine returns max power of 82 hp and 113 Nm of torque. The 1.3-litre diesel returns max power of 74 hp and 190 Nm of torque. Both engines are mated to a 5-speed manual transmission and 5-speed AMT as an option.
The Euro-spec Swift isn’t bound by the numbers above. And while it looks similar to a Swift as we know it, overseas petrol engine outputs vary. The 1.2-litre DualJet SHVS ALLGRIP SZ5 petrol returns max power of 89bhp and max torque of 120Nm. The 5 speed manual, all-wheel drive (AWD) goes from 0-62 mph (100kmph) in 12.6 seconds, and pegs top speed at 105mph (168.9 kmph). Watch it in action in the video below.
There’s also a 1.0-litre Boosterjet 3-cyl engine that returns max power of 110 Bhp and max torque of 170 Nm. Euro Swift trumps with its 6 airbags over two offered in India. ESP features and tackles slides. Swift’s ESP can’t be disabled at the touch of a button and has been taken care of separately.
And while the affordable Maruti Swift price points in India range from Rs 4.99 – 8.76 lakh, it’s capability lies entrenched within its price tag.
