Maruti Swift DLX launched with driver airbag as standard

Set to make the Maruti Suzuki Swift DLX variant even safer than before, the company has added a driver side airbag as standard. The variant also receives other features such as fog lamps, four power windows, Bluetooth and USB connectivity and central locking.

The highlight here is that the new Swift DLX edition new features are offered across all variants and will not be limited to its top end variants. 60:40 split seats, tilt adjustable steering wheel and electric power steering along with optional ABS with EBD are also a part of the safety features.

Maruti Swift DLX kit adds 2-DIN audio system with Bluetooth connectivity and front-door-mounted speakers, front and rear power windows, MID in the instrument console (calculates average fuel economy), fog lights, central locking, body colored wing mirrors and door handles, and blacked out pillars.

Maruti Suzuki Swift DLX variant will see no change in mechanics, exteriors or interiors. It is offered with petrol and diesel engine options and will continue to be powered by the same 1.2 liter K Series VVT petrol engine offering 83 bhp power and 115 Nm torque and 1.3 liter DDiS diesel engine offering 74 bhp power and 190 Nm torque. Both engines get mated to a 5 speed manual gearbox as standard. The Maruti Suzuki DLX version is priced from INR 4.8 lakhs onwards.

This is a new variant of Maruti Swift, which is probably launched to gauge market response to a more feature rich Swift. Maruti Suzuki is probably carrying this out as an exercise, ahead of the launch of new generation Swift.

The new 2017 Swift was showcased earlier this year in Japan and is expected to be launched in India later this year. Lighter in weight, safer in structure, spacious interiors, more features, stylish exteriors, etc are the highlights of the new Swift. Read more about the 2017 Swift here.
