New Suzuki Swift Facelift Launched in Japan – Price, Colours, Photos

Suzuki’s popular hatchback Swift has gotten a mid-cycle update with revised exteriors, interiors and new features

2020 Suzuki Swift facelift has now been officially launched in Japan. More than 50% of Swift sales globally, are from India. It is one of the best selling Suzuki cars in India, under the Maruti brand. Third generation Swift was unveiled internationally in 2016 and it was launched in India in 2017. Maruti Suzuki is likely to schedule the launch of Swift facelift during the festive season.

International-spec Suzuki Swift facelift does not get any major design updates. Cosmetic tweaks include redesigned headlamp clusters and a more prominent front bumper. The front grille has been updated with a honeycomb mesh design and chrome trim. Side profile is largely the same as earlier, but the allow wheels do feature a new design.

On the inside, Swift facelift gets a refreshed dashboard and new seat fabrics. There are some additional features as well to keep the car relevant to evolving market dynamics. CVT as well as the AGS variant now gets paddle shifters.

2020 Maruti Swift

In the Indian market, new Maruti Swift could get the 1.2-liter K12N DualJet petrol motor that is already in use with Dzire. The BS6 engine generates max power of 90 hp and max torque of 113 Nm. Transmission options include 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT. The current Swift model is powered by BS6 1.2-litre VVT engine that churns out 82 hp / 113 Nm. Mileage is 21.21 kmpl for both manual and automatic variants. There can be an improvement in mileage with the new engine.

As Maruti Suzuki has adopted a petrol-only roadmap for the near future, Swift will be available only with petrol engine. However, if there’s a prominent dip in sales due to unavailability of diesel variant, the company may have to rethink its decision. Swift facelift will continue to rival the likes of Tata Tiago, Hyundai Grand i10 Nios and Ford Figo. A large price hike is unlikely, as there’s uncertainly in the market and consumer sentiments continue to be weak.
