India made Maruti SX4 S-Cross interiors are same as European S-Cross

Maruti SX4 S-Cross is not a new car. It is already on sale in some European countries. In India too, it was shown at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo. Well, then why is Maruti taking so long to launch the car? The reason being, though the car is already on sale in Europe, Maruti Suzuki needed time to setup acquiring parts, local manufacturing, etc.

But, the car seems to be almost ready, and the first batch of production will be out of the plant by early next year. Test runs have already commenced, and seen above is the first spy shot of its interior. This confirms that India made S Cross will have the same interiors as seen on the European variant. The image above does not feature steering mounted controls or start/stop button, confirming its a base or mid variant.

Premium interiors of SX4 S-Cross suggests Maruti plans to continue their bottom bottom-up approach.

On board features will include airbags, ABS, EBD, touchscreen with multimedia and navigation, Start/Stop button, steering mounted controls and much more. In Europe, the S Cross has a safety rating of 5 stars, but it is not sure if it will be the same for India. Recently, India made Swift received 0 stars, when European Swift has a five star safety rating.

As of now, it is not clear what engine options will be on offer. Sources reveal that it will only be offered in 120 PS 1.6l diesel engine with a 6 speed gearbox. S Cross is expected to be priced in the Rs 11-13 lakhs segment. Once launched Maruti S-Cross will compete with the likes of Mahindra XUV500, Renault Duster, and Nissan Terrano.
