Order books for the Maruti Vitara Brezza is officially open from today although several dealers reportedly have been accepting unofficial pre-orders soon after the vehicle was unveiled at the 2016 Auto Expo. Maruti’s first sub-4 metre crossover has a starting price of INR 6.99 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi).
Deliveries to customers will only commence by end of March 2016.
On the sidelines of the Vitara Brezza’s launch in Mumbai, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd.’s (MSIL) revealed that there are no export plans for the new model until the demand in domestic market is met completely. Given that the Brezza is entering a highly lucrative market segment, the company is hoping to amass thousands of bookings in the initial months.
It would be huge challenge to balance the demand-supply equation but Maruti appears to be better prepared than rivals Renault India (for the Kwid) and Hyundai India (for the Creta) who let the waiting period for their hot launches to stretch beyond 10 months at certain points.
The Vitara Brezza is available in 6 variants, all featuring the lone 1.3-litre diesel motor which puts out 90 PS and 200 Nm of torque. Driver airbag is being offered as a standard fitment across all the variants while LDi (O) and VDi (O) trims add dual airbags and ABS with EBD.
The Maruti Vitara Brezza looks set to be the automaker’s most successful launches in the recent history. Will it surpass the Swift’s initial sales performance? We would know in a few months.
