IndianAutosBlog reports that bookings for Maruti Vitara Brezza have commenced. Dealerships from at least three metros have confirmed that customers have started confirming their orders by paying INR 21,000. The publication also reports that deliveries are slated to begin in March, indicating that pricing announcement is just a few weeks away.
The Ford EcoSport rival is the first product to be primarily developed by Maruti Suzuki in India. Previewed by the XA Alpha design concept at the Auto Expo 2012, the production version settles of a boxy styling and an all-new front fascia with projector headlamps and chrome grille insert. Higher variants get contrast roof for enhanced aesthetics.
Inside, the dashboard is an equal mixture of fresh and familiar elements. Fully loaded variants will sport a touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control and multifunction steering wheel. Driver airbag will be offered as standard while ABS will be available as an optional extra right from the base variant (standard on top-end variant).
The Maruti Vitara Brezza will be available only in diesel version, at least as of now. The familiar 1.3-litre DDiS 200 (Fiat MultiJet) diesel engine produces 90 PS and 200 Nm of torque when mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. The powertrain drives the front wheels.
