Even before the customer deliveries commenced across India, the Maruti Vitara Brezza has already started garnering motorsport honors. The FWD compact crossover which was launched earlier this month has emerged victorious at the Maruti Suzuki National Super League Rally Championship in Dehradun.
The golden yellow Brezza with contrasting white roof, piloted by Karthick Maruthi and his co-driver S.Shankar Anand, managed to win the 900 km-long really in 2 days. The second position was also sealed by the Vitara Brezza, driven by Jagmeet Gilla with his co-driver Chandan Sen. The more premium and powerful S-Cross sealed the last spot on the podium (driver – Sachin Singh, co-driver – M Prakash.
This year’s rally witnessed participation from 54 cars and the results are based on the Time-Speed-Distance concept. All the contestants managed to complete the rally. The top finishers received cash prices of INR 5 lakhs, 3 lakhs and 2 lakhs respectively.
The Maruti Vitara Brezza is the first product to be fully developed by the automaker’s Indian R&D division. Based on the global C-Platform, the crossover offers promising ride and handling package. The familiar 1.3-litre DDiS diesel engine producing 90 PS and 200 Nm of torque is under the hood. A 5-speed manual transmission drives the front wheels.
