Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza sub-4 metre compact SUV was first shown in India at Auto Expo 2016 in early February. Social activity around the new compact SUV was ripe and ensured a quick launch followed its unveiling.
Vitara Brezza is designed by Maruti’s Head of Design, C.V Raman. This apart the vehicle is fully developed in India. The sub-compact SUV is Maruti’s first entry in this segment. Previous SUV offerings from Maruti Suzuki include the Gypsy, Grand Vitara and S-Cross.
Before the year has ended, Vitara Brezza has worked wonders for Maruti Suzuki. Soon after launch, record sales had already outdone competitors. Sales has continued to be positive through 2016. Robust sales and an offering that’s racing ahead ensured the Vitara Brezza the Indian Car of The Year Award win on 20th of December, 2016. ICOTY was introduced in 2005. Previously, Maruti Suzuki Swift was awarded in 2006 and 2012.
Having been adjudged Indian Car Of The Year for 2017 by a jury of automobile experts from across publications, Dr. Raghupati Singhania, Chairman & MD, JK Tyres, presented the ICOTY trophy to Maruti for the Suzuki Vitara Brezza. The 2017 ICOTY award triumph saw Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza win against Hyundai Tucson and Toyota Innova Crysta in the final round. ICOTY is viewed as the credible and coveted auto award in India.
What it means for Maruti
The Indian Car of the Year recognition for Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza is by no means a small feat. It marks the vehicle’s short onward journey from inception to end of first year sales, which by all means has ended well. Since its launch in March 2016, Maruti Suzuki has received over 1.72 lakh bookings for Vitara Brezza. The compact SUV is among India’s top 10 selling models and has helped Maruti grace leadership position in the utility vehicle segment.
Vitara Brezza combines muscle, glamour and dynamic styling complemented by class leading features, safety and brilliant fuel efficiency. Maruti Suzuki has also introduced ‘i Create’ to encourage Vitara Brezza personalization by customers.
