Update – 6th November 2015

Maruti WagonR AMT is all set to debut in the coming days. Before it is launched officially, ACI has gotten their hands on the WagonR AMT and here are photos from their shoot, revealing the car completely.

Once launched, price of Maruti WagonR AMT is expected to be in the range of INR 4.6-5.3 lakh, ex-showroom.

Original story – 4th November 2015

Both Maruti WagonR AMT and Stingray AMT were spied on test inside Maruti’s plant, signalling impending launch in India.

WagonR and Stingray with AMT will be offered on the LXi trim. It will be mated with a 1.0 liter 3 cylinder K Series engine offering 68 PS peak power and 90 Nm peak torque. Considering the manual variant of both these cars offers fuel efficiency of 20.5 kmpl, the AMT variant should be equally if not more fuel efficient.

Maruti WagonR AMT has already made its way to markets in Indonesia (under Suzuki badge). Offered at a price of approximately Rs 5.5 lakhs, about Rs 40,000 more than the manual transmission variant, in India the WagonR AMT variant price could start from Rs 4.4 lakhs, while that of WagonR Stingray could start from Rs 4.60 lakhs.

Stingray is a more premium variant of Maruti WagonR. Maruti Stingray differentiates itself from the WagonR thanks to projector headlamps, different grille, more chrome on the front and rear.

To slot above the Alto K10 and Celerio, Maruti WagonR and Stingray with AMT is expected to pull in more sales for Maruti Suzuki. Both cars use the same K10 petrol engine as seen on both Alto K10 and Celerio. This will make configuring the AMT gearbox easier. Launch of Maruti WagonR AMT and StingRay AMT is expected to take place in the coming days.
