After launching BS-VI compliant WagonR 1.2 Litre petrol in June, Maruti Suzuki has introduced BS-VI for its 1.0 Litre petrol variant as well. With BS-VI upgrade, price of the car has been increased.
In Delhi and NCR, ex-showroom price of BS-VI compliant WagonR 1.0 Litre petrol is in the range of Rs 4.42 lakh – Rs 5.41 lakh. The increased pricing comes into effect from November 18, 2019. Prices have effectively increased by around Rs 12k, as earlier price range was Rs 4.3 to 5.3 lakh.
Maruti Suzuki had launched the new 2019 WagonR earlier this year in January. In its third generation, WagonR is bigger and better looking than its predecessor. While the car retains its tallboy design, several new changes have been introduced such as redesigned headlamps, new grille, updated bumper and trapezoidal housing for fog lamps. Rear section has also been updated with redesigned tail-gate and tail lamps.
2019 WagonR utilizes the lightweight Heartect platform and offers more space on the inside. It is longer, wider and has a longer wheelbase, as compared to the earlier variant. The car has dual-tone interiors and comes with a new dashboard and SmartPlay Studio touchscreen infotainment system. SmartPlay Studio offers mobile connectivity, displays vehicle information and supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Other key features on the inside include front cabin lamps, driver side sun visor with ticket holder, power windows, AC & heater, reclining & front sliding seats, and utility spaces at front and rear. In terms of safety, WagonR 1.0 litre petrol is equipped with driver airbag, ABS with EBD, seat belt reminder with buzzer, speed alert system, rear parking sensors, central locking and child proof rear door lock.
WagonR 1.0 litre petrol is powered by 998 cc K10B 3-cylinder engine that generates max power of 67 hp @ 5,500 rpm and max torque of 90 Nm @ 3,500 rpm. Engine is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox or AGS unit (Auto Gear Shift).
WagonR continues to be one of the bestselling Maruti cars in the country. In October, WagonR was ranked at 6th place in the list of top 10 bestselling cars. Total sales stood at 14,359 units, registering YoY growth of 34.75% and MoM growth of 22.13%. WagonR is comfortably ahead of its rivals such as Hyundai Santro and Tata Tiago.
