Maruti WagonR BS6 CNG Launch Price Rs 5.25 lakh – Mileage 32.52 km/kg

Maruti WagonR BS6 CNG variant launched at a starting price of Rs 5.25 lakh for the LXi variant.

Maruti Suzuki has launched the ‘S-CNG’ variant of the updated BS6-compliant WagonR at Rs 5.25 lakh for the base LXi variant while the higher LXi (O) variant comes at Rs 5.32 lakh. Both prices are ex-showroom (Delhi). The Maruti WagonR is a popular choice when it comes to the CNG-vehicle segment in the Indian automotive market. The tall-boy hatchback, in its CNG avatar, is often seen as cabs due to the cost-effectiveness and high fuel economy it offers.

The Maruti WagonR BS6 S-CNG is part of the Indian brand’s ‘Mission Green Million’ initiative that was announced at Auto Expo 2020. The aim is to provide the widest range of ‘green vehicles’ in the country. With a tank capacity of 60 litres, the new CNG variant of the Maruti Wagon R promises an impressive mileage figure of 32.52km/kg. CNG fuel is measured in kilograms.

Mr Shashank Srivastava, Executive Director of Marketing & Sales at Maruti Suzuki India Limited, shares that the company is consistently committed to offering sustainable mobility solutions to its customers. Through the Misson Green Million initiative, Maruti Suzuki has strengthened its dedication towards improving green mobility in the country.

Mr Srivastava also added that the third-gen Maruti Suzuki WagonR has been a massive success on the Indian market, with over 24 lakh loyal customers. Maruti Suzuki promises that the new Maruti Wagon R S-CNG variant offers a good balance of drivability, fuel efficiency, safety (of the system) and convenience while the overall appeal of the tall-boy hatchback stays at the forefront.

To date, Maruti Suzuki has sold over a million green vehicles (CNG and mild-hybrids) ever since it started concentrating on such vehicles just over a decade ago. The company aims to hit the next million in a matter of a few years and lead the mass adoption of greener and cleaner vehicles in the country.

The Maruti Suzuki S-CNG range aligns with the Indian government’s vision to reduce oil import and improve the use of natural gas from 6.2% at present to 15% by 2030. For the same reason, the country is getting a stronger CNG fuel-station network with support from the government.

Maruti Suzuki’s S-CNG is essentially an improved version of a conventional CNG system. Unlike a regular retro-fitted CNG unit, S-CNG units are integrated into the design of the respective Maruti Suzuki product to provide the best space utilisation, safety and convenience.
