WagonR being India’s highest-selling vehicle for three consecutive financial years (FY 22, FY 23, FY 24) is no ordinary feat
India’s largest car manufacturer, Maruti Suzuki, has put a lot of effort into the Asian subcontinent over time. The company is now reaping results of its relentless pursuit of market domination. Just yesterday, Maruti Suzuki celebrated 2 Million sales milestone in a calendar year, which was the Ertiga MPV.
Today, the company has another reason to celebrate as WagonR successfully completed 25 years of its journey in India. For 25 years, Maruti Suzuki WagonR has been a staple name in Indian car market and a reliable choice for masses. Utmost value for money quotient is what WagonR promises, making it a favourite among aspiring Indians.
Maruti WagonR Celebrates 25th Anniversary
The company, Maruti Suzuki, mentions that WagonR is India’s favourite family car today and tomorrow. That is because this affordable tall-boy hatchback is poised to cater to budget-conscious buyers for years to come, while its immediate rival was discontinued abruptly (despite decent sales) to make production headroom for more expensive SUVs.
This shows Maruti Suzuki’s commitment to cater for this price bracket in the future. Indian car buyers have shown a lot of love towards WagonR, making it highest-selling vehicle in India for the last three consecutive financial years – FY 22, FY 23 and FY 24, demonstrating unwavering love India has for this hatchback.
WagonR was first introduced in 1999 as a Tall Boy hatchback, which offered immense space and comfort on the inside. Over the years, WagonR has grown in size, appeal, performance and fuel efficiency, catering to a much wider audience than it did in 1999. With sales credentials of 3.2 million happy customers, WagonR stands tall as a symbol of trust, innovation and practicality.
Under the bonnet, WagonR offers both 1.0L and 1.2L engine options along with 5-speed MT and 5-speed AMT gearbox options. This tall-boy hatchback is also offered in India with a CNG option which sold 6.6 lakh units to date. Interiors are roomy with a large boot space for the segment too and offer many modern amenities to keep up with evolving markets.
