Maruti WagonR owner installs Jeep Compass inspired grille for Rs 2,500 – Calls it WagonR Jeep

When your car is among the most common car in the country, there is little you can do to make it look different. For most, that is not an issue, as they don’t see this as a problem. But for some, this is an issue, as they would like to stand out from the crowd. One such person, is the owner of this Maruti WagonR.

In order to give his car a different look, and to stand out from the rest, a Maruti WagonR owner has gone ahead and installed a Jeep Compass inspired premium grille. This grille has the same seven slats as is seen on those Jeep cars in India, including the Compass, Wrangler, Grand Cherokee, etc.

Including purchase of the grille, and installation, total cost of this aftermarket modification is Rs 2,500. The owner now proudly refers to his car as WagonR Jeep. But, it is also true that apart from the front grille, there is no other modification made. Neither to any other part on the outside, or on the inside. The car is still powered by the same old 1.0 liter petrol engine which delivers 68 PS and 90 Nm via a 5 speed gearbox or AMT.

Speaking about Maruti Suzuki, they are currently in an interesting transition phase. From being known as a small car maker, they now are on their way to getting known as a premium car maker. Helping them do this, are their new car launches and the Nexa dealerships.

Their newest launch, 2018 Maruti Ciaz has already become the best selling car in the segment – beating the likes of Honda City and Hyundai Verna. Ciaz is currently the most expensive Maruti car on offer. Next up is S-Cross, which is doing not so badly against the Creta.

New Maruti cars, Swift and Dzire have already broken sales records for the company. Similarly, the new generation version of Alto and WagonR are expected to deliver. Compared to the current Alto and WagonR, the new gen versions will be more premium, spacious and powerful. These will be launched by 2020.
