Maruti YBA (XA Alpha) dashboard, interiors spied

At 2012 Delhi Auto Expo, it was Maruti Suzuki and Ford which showcased under four meter compact SUV concepts to buyers in India. That was in the form of XA-Alpha and Ecosport respectively. We all know what kind of a success EcoSport has been, not only in India, but globally. Sadly, Maruti’s XA Alpha is not yet launched. But the good news is, it is not very far away from launch.

Codenamed YBA, the compact SUV project of Maruti Suzuki will see the light of day at 2016 Delhi Auto Expo in February 2016. Once launched, Maruti YBA (XA Alpha) will compete with the likes of Ford EcoSport and upcoming compact SUVs from Hyundai, Tata, Mahindra, Renault, Volkswagen, etc.

Spied testing in Shimla, new spy shots of Maruti YBA (XA Alpha) detail it like never before. In the front you can see entire headlamp setup, seemingly inspired from BMW, with projector headlamps. At the rear, one can again find tail-lamp design similar to that of BMW X range of SUVs.

Built on a new platform, the Maruti YBA (XA Alpha) does share a lot of parts with existing Swift. To be offered in a choice of petrol and diesel engine options, similar to the one’s seen on Swift, price of YBA could range from INR 5 – 8 lakh. These engine options are 1.2 liter petrol and 1.3 liter diesel units.

From dashboard spy pics, it is clear that YBA’s all-black dashboard is inspired by Maruti’s flagship S-Cross. It also features steering mounted controls and touchscreen equipped with SmartPlay system; though, there are no leather seats. Transmission option on offer is a five speeed manual gearbox, as seen in the image. Also expect a CVT option on board with the petrol unit.
