Premium hatchback segment in India is booming, proven by massive success of ICOTY 2015 (Indian Car Of The Year) Hyundai Elite i20. To rival the same and soon-to-launch Honda Jazz, Maruti YRA is en route with a big car appeal and a platter of features.Maruti YRA is embellished with Swift-reminiscent front fascia and protuberant rear end. The entire front facade elements including bonnet, bumpers and head lights remind us of the Swift, while chrome radiator grille looks Nissan Sunny inspired. Side profile features waste-line mounted ORVMs, while rear portion features nothing so notable; just filled with basic requirements giving a rather dull vibe.
Interior of Maruti YRA premium hatchback is given full black colour scheme with silver accents here and there (especially on centre console). Features include touchscreen infotainment system (possibly the SmartPlay unit introduced in Ciaz sedan), automatic climate control, vertical AC vents, and twin-dial instrument cluster illuminated by snazzy white and blue lights with an LCD multi-function display at the centre.
Codename YRA will most likely be powered by 1.2 litre K-Series petrol and 1.3 litre DDiS diesel engines doing duty in Maruti Swift. Apart from usual 5-speed gearbox, 4-speed automatic transmission seen in Dzire could be offered in YRA.
